Rotich Named C-USA Athlete of the Year

National champion Anthony Rotich has repeated his honors as the Conference USA Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year the league announced Wednesday.

The seven-time All-American earned back-to-back NCAA titles in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on June 14 th at the 2014 national Championships. The C-USA Champion posted a time of 8:32.21 to beat the national competition. Earlier in the season, he posted a season best time of 8:30.54 in the event.

A native of Nairobi, Kenya, Rotich was also named the Track Performer of the Meet and was also the High-Point Scorer at 2014 C-USA Championships with 30 points. He won gold in the men’s 1,500m run, 3,000m steeplechase and 5,000m run to help the Minersfinish second out of 12 conference teams. Rotich has been a mainstay on theBowerman Watch List with eight appearances during his career.
