An Ysleta Independent School District spokeswoman has confirmed Paola Munoz was struck in front of the high school on the 8600 block of Alameda Avenue around 6 p.m.
A friend on the scene, Erick Portillo, said the girl is 14 years old and their group was crossing Alameda Avenue to get to McDonald’s. “I just heard a big impact and I didn’t know what to do,” Portillo said. “I just started panicking, and when I got out of shock I got my phone and called 911. The other witness that was coming here, she saw her (the driver) on the phone.”
The driver remained on the scene and was cooperating with El Paso Police Department officers. No word yet on whether or not she will face charges.
