El Paso ISD delays hearing fate of some schools

The El Paso Independent School District was supposed to hear some recommendations that could possibly close some of its schools.

But at the meeting Thursday the board of managers decided to postpone it two weeks.

That’s when the board will hear a presentation on the facilities master plan.

That plan includes possibly closing eight elementary schools, including Zavala, Vilas, and Schuster.

The board will hear the recommendations during its regularly scheduled meeting on Jan. 21.

The board said it won’t make any decisions until February.
