New stadiums, improvements coming to EPISD high schools

Bowie, Franklin and Jefferson high schools are getting upgrades. This after theEl Paso Independent School District reallocated extra money from their 2007 bond.

The district’s bond committee set aside $500,000 for Bowie High. Bowie has a stadium but is set to renovate it’s field house.

At Franklin and Jefferson high schools, which do not currently have a stadium, they will receive $1.6 million for 6,000-capacity stadiums and new concession stands. Both schools have been forced to use their rival school’s stadium, for Jefferson that’s Bowie, at Franklin, they have to go to Coronado High.

Franklin is also set to share costs with the City of El Paso to build a 50-meter indoor pool on it’s property. The pool would be open to students and the public. The pool was a project in the city’s 2012 Quality of Life bonds.
