Woman allegedly admits to strangling husband with apron, according to affidavit
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 61-year-old woman in connection with her husband’s death.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 12000 block of Palenque in El Paso County at 6:15 a.m. Sept. 25 in reference to an unresponsive person.
The sheriff’s office Crimes Against Persons and Crime Scene units were called to the scene due to some suspicious circumstances, according to sheriff’s officials.
The investigators concluded there was foul play involved in the death and Martha Acevedo was arrested and charged with murder in the death of her husband, Jose Acevedo.
According to the affidavit, deputies say the victim was found lying on the floor in the living room with a large mark around his neck. Witnesses say there was an extensive history of family violence in the relationship.
Deputies say Acevedo later confessed to them that she killed her husband – strangling him with an apron for about 10 seconds.
Her bond was set at $100,000.
