Fire causes $50,000 in damage to East El Paso home

A fire at an East El Paso home Monday caused $50,000 in damage.

Firefighters were sent to the home in the 9800 block of Acer at about 1:48 p.m.

Crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from the car port at the right side of the house when they arrived.

The home was searched and determined no one was home and proceeded to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control at 1:52 p.m. and contain it to about 30 percent of the house.

The damage estimate includes a vehicle in the car port.

The cause of the investigation is still under investigation.

There were no injuries to residents or fire personnel. A total of 9 units and 24 personnel from the El Paso Fire Department responded to this incident.
