First Alert: Strong winds in west El Paso through early afternoon

The ABC-7 StormTRACK weather team has issued a first alert for the strong winds affecting portions of west El Paso.

Our newsroom has received reports that the traffic lights at the intersections of Mesa at Mesa Hills and Mesa at Festival are out.

El Paso police have closed off part of north-bound Stanton street (right in front of Mission Hills park) due to a large tree toppling over in front of a house at the 39-hundred block of North Stanton. Fortunately, there was no damage to the home or anyone living inside.

Winds are expected to last through the early afternoon. Expect breezy conditions through your late afternoon and evening.
