On a day when El Paso Children’s Hospital has to respond to University Medical Center’s offer sheet, Children’s has named a new chief executive officer.

Mark Herbers, the new CEO, has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare.

“I fully support and am confident that Mark Herbers will effectively lead El Paso Children’s Hospital during this transitional period of restructuring and future negotiations,” said Jim Sexton, Children’s Interim CEO in a hospital newsletter. “I want to thank the community for their continuous support of El Paso Children’s Hospital and the children we serve. I have had the wonderful opportunity of working with a dedicated team of great individuals at El Paso Children’s Hospital and have been impressed by their commitment in providing the highest level of care to the children that need it the most. It has been a pleasure serving this community and I know that the team at El Paso Children’s Hospital will continue to improve health outcomes for El Paso’s children.”

The newsletter did not state when Herbers would start.
