4 boys found safe after overnight search in Franklin Mountains
Update: The El Paso Fire Department tweeted that three of the boys were found at 8:30 a.m. near Helen of Troy and Redd Road area. The other boy had been found earlier.
Original Story: Four boys, none older than 14, got lost in the Franklin mountains Tuesday night.
Search and rescue crews were able to locate one of the boys early Wednesday morning, but 3 others remain missing as of 6:30 a.m.
The boy who was found, a 13 year old, was reportedly located after neighbors reported seeing a flashing light. Fire crews say that boy is now with his mother.
Fire crews say the boys were on a hiking trip. While we are told they all have jackets, none have cell phones. Among the boys who remain missing, one is an 11 year old and two others are 14. We are told that the 11 year old is related to the 13 year old that was already found.
Transmountain Drive was briefly closed to assist with the search and rescue effort, but has since been reopened.
