Traffic Alert: Road work construction near Ft. Bliss

As part of Fort Bliss’ continued efforts to improve installation access,
roadwork construction has begun at five all-access control points.

The construction projects will be minimal during the peak morning hours of 5
– 9 a.m. and should be completed by mid-July 2015. Travelers should plan
their time accordingly as access times and heavier than normal traffic
conditions will increase during this period.

The five all-access control points being affected are Buffalo Soldier,
Chaffee, Sheridan, Biggs Army Airfield Main and Old Ironsides gates.

To help lessen the impact of oncoming traffic using any of the all-access
gates, Fort Bliss encourages all Department of Defense identification card
holders to avoid the all-access gates and instead use one of the military
only limited access gates whenever possible.

Construction includes installing visitor control centers, improving paved
roadways, expanding parking areas and infrastructure upgrades.

As has always been the Fort Bliss standard to come onto post, all drivers
must possess a valid military ID card, state issued driver’s license or
federal ID card, vehicle registration document, proof of insurance and are
subject to random searches and inspections.
