Slick roads and school delays from Thursday morning weather

It was a wet and chilly Thursday morning in the Borderland. There were impacts from the weather with slick roads and delayed school openings.

There was a lot of anticipation of the bad weather for Thursday. As ABC-7 crews were out overnight, snow plows and gravel and sand trucks were on patrol on the streets, ready for what the weather might bring..

The weather did create delays and hazardous conditions for many in the area. Slick streets and even ice could be seen from the drizzle in the morning cold, the Texas Department of Transportation and other agencies on alert overnight for inclement weather.

Many schools in the area also delayed openings in anticipation of the bad weather. There was some confusion as schedules shifted and changed along with the forecast.

“it’s just a bunch of traffic, but there was nothing on the roads,” said one parent near a school Thursday morning. “but that’s a good thing. I got to sleep in a couple of hours.”
