Father of ex-LAPD officer charged with murder convicted of lying to FBI

Victor Manuel Solis, the father of an ex-Los Angeles Police officer arrested for murder, has been found guilty by a jury of making a false statement to the FBI.

Victor Solis is currently out on bond and faces up to five years in federal prison and a maximum $250,000 fine. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 20, 2015 by U.S. District Judge Philip R. Martinez.

Testimony in federal court presented during trial revealed that on March 16, 2015, Victor Solis willfully attempted to prevent law enforcement from locating Henry Solis by representing to FBI agents that he, alone, crossed into Mexico on March 14, 2015.

The FBI released photographs showing Victor Solis accompanying Henry Solis as they crossed from El Paso into into Ciudad Juarez, Mexico via the Paso Del Norte port of entry on March 14, 2015.

Henry Solis, who was recently captured in Juarez and returned to the United States, faces state charges related to his alleged involvement in a homicide in Pomona, CA, in March.

According to a criminal complaint filed in United States District Court in Los Angeles, Henry Solis was involved in a physical altercation with a man in the downtown district of the city of Pomona on March 13, 2015.

Henry Solis allegedly pursued the man on foot and shot him multiple times, killing him, according to the complaint.

On March 17, 2015, the Pomona Police Department obtained a warrant for Henry Solis’ arrest for murder in the Superior Court of the State of California, County of Los Angeles.

A fugitive investigation was initiated by the FBI’s Fugitive Task Force in Los Angeles after it had been established that Solis had left the jurisdiction of California.

On March 19, 2015, a federal arrest warrant was issued by the United States District Court in the Central District of California (Los Angeles), after Solis was charged federally with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution (UFAP).
