New Mexico State Police have released the name of the man who shot a security guard and then killed himself on June 2.

Police say that 62-year-old Benjamin Martinez, of Canutillo, went into the Human Services Department building on Crossett Lane in Anthony, New Mexico.

After entering the building, Martinez allegedly shot an on-duty security officer and immediately left the building.

Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene and no law enforcement personnel fired any weapons.

Hernandez remains in critical condition.

The New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau is investigating this incident in conjunction with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. Further details of this incident will be released as more information is obtained.
