Deadly motorcycle crash shuts down 1-10
A motorcyclist died after being thrown from their motorcycle and then hit by a car Friday morning on the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 near the Zaragoza exit.
A passenger on the motorcycle was injured, but their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The three-vehicle crash happened about 8:50 a.m. on the left lane. Police said the first vehicle slowed down due to congestion on the highway. The motorcycle could not slow down in time and slammed into the first car, police said. The driver of the motorcycle and the passenger were thrown from the bike before a third vehicle hit them.
The motorcyclist died at the scene, while the passenger was treated for minor injuries.
El Paso police have closed the westbound lanes of 1-10 just before at the Zaragoza exit. Drivers are being detoured at Loop 375.
