Drivers stranded for hours on I-10

better news on the roads closed this past weekend because of snow and ice. transmounain and scenic drive were closed over the weekend but they’re open again. also open, the i-10 – i-20 interchange to the east of el paso. talk about a lousy ending to a holiday weekend if you were driving across texas. abc-seven’s bob harp continues our complete coverage: what a mess it was out there! some people stuck on a frozen highway for hours! “left at 4 in th morning, stranded for four hours” that’s el pasoan paula avila describing the situaiton at i-10 about an hour’s drive east of fort stockton. our newsroom took several phone calls from frustrated drivers waiting for tx-dot crews to arrive. this all happened on i-10 east at mile marker 191. that’s near the i-20 interchange where four inches of ice was reported on the highways. tonight, all is back open. a viewer, roland lucero shared this video with us… he took the jeep off roading to avoid the mess! yes, off i-10! roland says he made it safely to odessa. texas officials say traffic on interstate 10 was backed up for 13 miles! and all because of four inchers of ice! “however we did see cars goin and coming back so we thought it might have been an old board message…and there were no additional signs that we saw.” if you’d like to se other pictures viewers stuck in the traffic shared with us, just visit the kvia.com facebook page. again, all is back open on i-10 near the i-20 interchange. bob harp, abc7. to stormtrack weather now! we are no longer under that abc-7 first
