Fire breaks out at Lower Valley El Paso home

A fire broke out at a Lower Valley home on New Year’s Eve.

Fire crews were called out to the 1100 block of Del Norte Street just before 6 p.m. Thursday. When firefighters arrived, there was heavy smoke billowing from the house.

Firefighters were told there might be people inside the home, which is located near the EPCC Valle Verde campus. However, all the home’s residents escaped uninjured. Firefighter did have to rescue a dog from in side the home; its condition is unknown.

It took firefighters an hour to get the fire under control, a department spokesman said.
