A 16-year-old is in jail charged accused of a shooting that has several people still recovering tonight

A 16-year-old is in jail charged with shooting at a car with six people inside of it.

Alberto Fierro Gamboa turned himself in to the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office today. His parents and an attorney were also with him.

Investigators say on January 23rd, the teenager fired several rounds from a rifle during a house party on the 100 block of Feathergrass in Berino, New Mexico.

Witnesses tell them a car pulled up to the house with six people in it. A woman got out of the car and began arguing with a woman who was at the party.

That’s when Gamboa allegedly went inside the house, got the rifle, came back outside and started shooting.

The sheriffs office says the 16-year-old chased after the car as it drove away and fired two more rounds. Four of the people in the car receive minor injuries.

Gamboa is scheduled to have a detention hearing set for tomorrow morning.

He is charged with four counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon causing great bodily harm, six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of shooting at a motor vehicle.
