Car strikes, kills woman ejected from SUV in rollover

A woman who was ejected from her SUV during a rollover was hit and killed by a car Wednesday morning, police said.

The crash happened just before 3:30 a.m. leaving debris scattered all over the freeway. U.S. 54 was shut down in both directions near the Hondo Pass overpass.

El Paso police tell ABC-7 an SUV was heading north on U.S. 54 when the female driver struck a guardrail on the highway and rolled over.

The impact ejected the driver.

Passersby stopped and tried to render aid to the woman when a dark colored compact car drove up and ran over the woman, killing her.

The dark colored compact car fled the scene.

Police are asking for help in locating the vehicle. The car might have damage to the front side of the vehicle and may be missing a right headlight.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
