el paso county sheriff’s are working a crash involving two cars..the westbound lanes are shut down and traffic is being forced to exit on to the gateway. there were injuries but their conditions were not released just yet. the sheriff’s office told out newsroom the area should be clear within the hour. we will update you with more information as soon as it becomes available. / one person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed at an east side convenience store. it happened around 2:30 this morning at the circle k located at 87-26 montana near hawkins. when our round the clock crew arrived, the corner store was taped off as they investigated what happened. police tell abc-7 a fight happened inside the store and one person was stabbed. emergency dispatch tells us the ratings fluxuated. el paso police are asking for your help in locating family members of an elderly man that was found wandering. 82-year-old simon armendarias- mendoza was found wandering at the beginning of february. police say he has a mental impairment and could not provide officers with any information about himself or relatives. he had a tx i.d. and passport on him but the listed address was not valid. anyone who may have any information regarding mr. armendaris’s family is asked to call detective aman at 915-212-4063. el paso police are still searching for a dark compact car that ran over an injured woman earlier this week after she rolled over and was ejected from her s- u-v on u.s.54 abc-7 spoke with the victim’s parents who are overwhelmed with emotion after the death of their daughter. “to the person that helped my daughter on the highway, thank you very much … ” they are grateful to the complete strangers who stopped and helped helped her early wednesday morning. they say … they even forgive the driver who moments later ran over their daughter… right in front of those good samaritans. / el paso police say he or she was southbound on u-s 54 wednesday around 3 in the morning… when they ran over 33-year-old nurse ruth naomi desoto. police say it was a dark compact car… and it probably has damage to the front end … maybe even missing a headlight. police ask that you el paso =—and how they had to break the news to their grandaughter. a former volunteer art teacher in las cruces will spend one year in jail plus probation after pleading guilty to having an inappropriate relationship with a student. from our new mexico mobile newsroom … 32-year-old gary vau, junior pleaded guilty to three counts of criminal sexual penetration and tampering with evidence. vau was arrested last april after the 17-year-old student told investigators she had sex with him at st. mary’s high school in las cruces. the girl says it happened on campus as many as 20 times. the victim did not speak in court during the trail. also in new mexico– authorities say some sort of medical episode may have led to a fatal car crash involving new mexico health secretary retta ward. ward, who police say was alone, drove off the road and hit an embankment in santa fe county early thursday morning. officials say no other vehicles were involved and ward did not suffer any kind of trauma from the crash itself. ward was pronounced dead once she arrived at a new mexico hospital. an exact cause of death has not been determined. the 62- year-old ward had been new mexico’s health secretary for three years. now it’s time to take a look at the tx-dot traffic cams… students have been looking forward to this since winter break! after that final bell rings – students will be on to get some sun over the break – the el paso zoo may be the spot for you! where you can feed giraffes and meet the zoo keepers! and if your kids want to keep learning – one city museum is offering a sent over seven car-loads of snow – saying it had plenty to spare from its fairbanks rail yard. the snow will be spread out to build a sled dog trail for the opening ceremony on saturday. to
