Blockbuster Announced Today That It Will Close Its Remaining Four Locations in El Paso

Border Entertainment LLC, owner of the El Paso Blockbuster stores, announced today that it will close its remaining four locations. Alan Payne, Owner of Border Entertainment, said that Sunday, March 27th was the last day of regular business for the stores. They will remain closed through Friday, April 1st then re-open for a final closing sale at 12:00pm on Saturday, April 2nd. These sales will last for several weeks until the entire inventory has been sold. Payne confirmed that each store has approximately 15,000 units of inventory, including DVD’s, Blu-rays, and Video Games. The stores are located at 10501 Gateway Blvd. West, 6135 North Mesa Street, 10765 Kenworthy Street, and 1796 North Zaragoza Road.

“We opened our first El Paso stores back in 1992,” Payne said. “It’s been a great run, but over the past few years more and more people have changed how they watch movies. This has caused a gradual decline in sales that has necessitated our decision to close the stores. We hope everyone will come visit us over the next few weeks so we can thank them for 24 wonderful years. It’s also the last chance to buy used movies and games from our very large inventories.”

Border Entertainment is the largest of the remaining Blockbuster licensees in the United States and will continue to operate stores in Alaska and the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.
