Firefighters battling fire near Ruidoso

Firefighters in Lincoln County are battling a blaze near the village of Ruidoso.

ABC-7 has learned the fire has scorched about 100 acres near the high school in the Gavilan Canyon area.

Streets mentioned include Lupine Loop, Torreon and White Oaks.

All of this is according to Ruidoso Fire Chief Harlan Vincent.

He says the fire is about 30 percent contained, and could not say how the fire may have started, but did say structures are in its path.

Vincent says the winds are a factor as firefighters try to get this fire under control.
