Soda truck crashes into arroyo off of I-25

A tractor-trailer hauling a full load of soda drove off Interstate 25 before crashing into an arroyo near the town of Doa Ana.

The crash caused the fizzy drink to explode out of the front of the trailer and spill onto the New Mexican desert about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday north of Las Cruces.

The unidentified driver, who was the only person in the semi, was taken to a local hospital, though the extent of their injuries is unknown.

Crews on the scene told Our New Mexico Mobile Newsroom the truck was separated from the trailer and the front axle was thrown 50 feet from where the crash occurred.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
