Despite disability, Parkland cheerleader hopes to inspire ot

tonight we introduce you to a senior at parkland high school who proves you can follow your dreams regardless of the challenges life throws your way. abc-7’s adrian ochoa has the story — new at ten: bianca molina is counting down the days until graduation. but it’s bitter-sweet: “football games..pe rallys..camps were amazing i loved it and i’m going to be sad.” for — 4 year — she’s been cheering on her matadors… while at the same time — facing her own obstacles. bianca has spina bifida — the bones of her spine never formed properly. she also has hydrocephalus — a fluid build up of the brain: “i have a tube that goes all th way from my brain down to my stomach and it that doesn’t work i can become sick.” cheerleading wa an escape and she was inspired early-on by her older sister who was also — a cheerleader. “she would come home and pu bows on me… and her pom poms.” bianca was hooked — and her disability wasn’t going to get in her way. “and then i would come see th cheerleaders and would be like — i’m going to try out — so i tried out and i made it so i first met bianca while working football games for the borderland blitz last season and what instantly struck me about her is that out of everyone in the stadium…bianca always seemed to be the one having the most fun. “i never performed in such a bi crowd, but i had to let my shyness out and be confident like i could do this and like i feel proud for who i am.” it wasn’t always easy. bianca had to deal with the stares and the comments. but she could always count on her family and her cheer squad. including her best friend — who is also on the team: “i always told her never le anyone get in your way. just do you and if they like you they like you if they don’t, it’s not your problem” some great advise for a young lady — already looking toward the future to help others: “i’m going to go to epcc to study to be a special ed teacher or a social worker. “you know a lot of young girl and boys are facing similar challenges. what advice would you give them as far as remaing persistent and following their dream just like you did?” “go for it. don’t let anybody get you down. reach your limits” “i wanna be an inspiration to everybody and for people with disabilities like you can do anything.” adrian ochoa – abc-7. thanks to bianca for sharing her story with us and thanks to bianca for sharing her story with us and congratulations on your upcoming graduation —
