EPISD HEARING: Bowie teacher testifies about interference in

the fate of professional licenses for three former bowie high school teachers has wrapped up for the day … but not before there were more tense moments in the courtroom. abc-7’s andrew j. polk is live at the county courthouse tonight…. there have been a series of accusations made about how these administrators knew and acted about keeping certain students out of the 10 grade. current bowie esl teacher rosemary angulo testified that there was major interference by administrators into the function of the language proficiency assessment committee, or lpac. the committee oversaw the assignment of esl students to the appropriate courses. angulo said that at one point after disagreements over the courses and grade levels esl transfer students were being assigned to, former bowie assistant principal juan manuel duran came into an lpac meeting and said quote fs1 you have been making up stuff as you go along for a long time, and it has to stop,” and she was shocked he would do that. angulo also talked about changes made to lpac decisions by former bowie assistsnt principal anna louisa kell on cross- examination, kell’s attorney mark berry questioned angulo about how she knew that kell was making changes to the lpac decisions. fs 2 “we were told by a supervisor all decisions that we made would be approved by ms. kell…all decisions we made might change because she would have to approve it,” fs 3 “but you have no personal knowledge of ms. kell made any changes?” mark berry “no.. don’t know anything ms. kell did in her office” rosemary angul the hearing has wrapped up for the day, but will continue with more testimony by kell tomorrow. that will be starting again at 9 am. funeral services began today for the dallas police officers killed last
