Seven arrested in connection with food stamp fraud investigation

Special Agents with the Texas Department of Public Safety arrested seven people allegedly connected to a food stamp fraud investigation.

The suspects and businesses were allegedly involved in fraud and abuse of Lone Star Cards used by the Texas Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) system, DPS officials said.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Inspector General, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Texas Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General EBT Trafficking Unit participated in this investigation.

The 34th Judicial District Attorney’s Office will be handling the prosecution of these cases.

The following individuals were booked in to the El Paso County Jail and charged with unauthorized possession of food stamps, a third-degree felony:

Alma Celina Gonzalez De Fernandez, 44 Adrian Fernandez, 46 Blanca Isabel Alvarez, 40 Rebecca Sandoval Ruvalcaba, 40 Jose Luis Alvarez, 43 Isaac Guzman, 35 Carlos Briceno, 45
