10 years in prison for man convicted of molesting 3-year-old girl
Chief District Judge Fernando Macias sentenced a man convicted of “Criminal Sexual Contact with a Minor” to 10 years in prison, District Attorney Mark D’Antonio announced Tuesday.
Prosecutors argued for the maximum 15-year sentence, but Judge Macias decided to sentence 28-year-old Federico Duarte to 10 years in prison and five years probation.
In July, Duarte was convicted of molesting a 3-year-old girl. Investigators said the incident happened in 2012 when Duarte forced the child to perform sexual acts on him.
This case was prosecuted by Daniel Sewell, a deputy district attorney with the 3rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
