San Antonio Spurs forward Danny Green hosts basketball camp at Parkland H.S.

San Antonio Spurs player Danny Green hosted the first day of his basketball camp Saturday, July 8 at Parkland High School.

“It’s a lot of fun,” Green said. “We get the chance to interact with the fans here and these kids are having a great time and we’re having a good time as well.” Green’s reason to host a camp in the west Texas town started out of pure curiosity. “I had never been (to El Paso),” said. “My camp looked into it and thought it would be a great opportunity to check it out and see what it was like, we did last year and it was a great time.” After the great turnout of the first camp, Green knew the camp would return. “The fans loved us, it was a great turnout and we had to come back,” Green said. “It was a no brainer for us.” The camp provides an opportunity for young NBA fans to meet and interact with the Spurs player. “(The young fans are) very entertaining, they enjoy being around me and I enjoy being around them as well,” Green said. The camp doesn’t just give campers the chance to meet him, but it also gives the athletes the chance to learn the game from one of the best. “Its great,” Jaylee Levario, Spurs fan and camper at Green’s camp, said. “You get to learn what it’s like being one of the best.” Each camper gets a Danny Green Camp T-shirt and an autograph photo with the Spurs player. The second and last day of Green’s basketball camp is Sunday, July 9. Boys and girls 8-17 are welcome to join and it is not too late to register for the final day. The camp starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. at Parkland High School. To join the final day of the camp you can sign up online at goldlevelse.com or you can walk in and register.
