Police identify Ft. Bliss soldier killed in fiery motorcycle wreck

Police identified the Fort Bliss soldier killed in a fiery motorcycle wreck Monday morning as John Barcellano, 26.

A Fort Bliss spokesperson told ABC-7 Barcellano was a soldier stationed on post.

El Paso police responded to the crash on Loop 375 in El Paso’s Lower Valley at about 12:50 am.

Police said Barcellano was riding a 2009 Kawasaki 600 “at a high rate of speed” before hitting a guard rail. The motorcycle caught fire and the motorcyclist died at the scene, police added.

ABC-7’s ‘Round the Clock crew saw Special Traffic Investigators and Fort Bliss police at the scene near Loop 375, between North Loop Drive and Socorro Road.

El Paso police said no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
