Las Cruces man accused of sexually assaulting girl multiple times

A Las Cruces man is accused of sexually assaulting a girl at least nine times in four years, police said.

Thomas Lopez, 38, is charged with nine counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor (one of the counts is considered second-degree felony, while the remaining eight are third-degree felonies).

Las Cruces police said they learned about the allegations on June 13. Following several interviews, investigators arrested Lopez on July 6. He was booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center.

Lopez was released on bond Tuesday.
