Colin Cowherd compares Conor McGregor to UTEP
Colin Cowherd, host of “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” on Fox Sports, compared Conor McGregor’s chances against Floyd Mayweather to those of UTEP football against Oklahoma.
UTEP was listed on Friday by some books as a 44-point underdog in their opener on Sept. 2 at Oklahoma. Mayweather is expected to be a huge favorite come fight night, with sports books predicting odds of -500 to -600 the night of the fight (meaning to win $100 with a bet on Mayweather, you’d have to risk $500-$600). Mayweather had opened several weeks ago as a -2250 favorite.
“UTEP is a 44-point dog against Oklahoma. This would be UTEP going into Norman, Oklahoma,” said Cowherd.
Cowherd said that McGregor, who has mercilessly taunted Mayweather in multiple news conferences so far, has no room to talk because he is such a heavy underdog.
“Some of you are just okay with Conor McGregor, who is UTEP here, who is Kent State, who is Coastal Carolina, who is Winthrop, who would be the New Orleans Pelicans in a seven-game series against the Warriors, and you’re okay with him trash talking,” said Cowherd.
Cowherd then decided to double-down on his criticism of McGregor, saying that he doesn’t possess the talent to support his bold claims. Cowherd said McGregor had tasted defeat three times in his career already and was little more than “a loudmouth.”
Mayweather and McGregor will square off on Aug. 26 in Las Vegas.
