El Paso Bishop Seitz to make statement on state immigration enforcement
El Paso Bishop Mark Seitz will be releasing a statement concerning increased immigration enforcement and what the Diocese plans to do to help migrants in the Borderland.
Seitz will release his “Sorrow and Mourning, Flee Away”, Pastoral Letter on Migration and the Border.
He claims that an increase in immigration enforcement including deportation and detention is creating a “climate of fear and anxiety for migrants and their families.”
Seitz, along with the clergy of the Diocese of El Paso, will announce Tuesday new advocacy, education and pastoral initiatives to support migrants in the community.
In a statement, several advocates will be in attendance, speaking about how they have been affected by immigration enforcement.
The announcement will be at the Sacred Heart Church in El Paso at 10 a.m.
