Dozens boo, leave Don Haskins after Journey concert delayed for hours

Fans were ready for classics like “Don’t Stop Believing” and “Faithfully” at the Don Haskins center Wednesday night for the Journey concert, but what concert goers couldn’t believe was a delay lasting more than an hour.

An announcement was made to fans that Journey’s plane experienced mechanical problems while in Tucson and would be arriving late to the venue.

The doors opened at 6 p.m. and the concert was set to start at 7:30 p.m. A concert goer tells ABC-7 Journey’s opening act, Asia, didn’t start until 8:30 p.m.

Journey reportedly didn’t start performing until after 11 p.m.

“All you could hear was a lot of booing,” Robert Angcayen said. “As a matter of fact, there were a couple of guys almost getting into a fight.”

The delay comes after the concert was already rescheduled from Saturday, July 15 to Wednesday.

“I’ve been to many concerts, 40 or 50 concerts. It takes about 30 minutes for the next band to play. This took an hour and 40 minutes,” Angcayen said. “I have to go to work tomorrow.”

Many waiting for Journey to arrive left the venue upset, demanding a refund.

“I bought four tickets, about $160. Journey should do the right thing and give everybody a refund.”
