Teacher accused of taking inappropriate photos of students, charged with voyeurism

Several students at Stout Elementary School in Silver City, New Mexico accused a teacher of using his cell phone to take inappropriate photos of students.

The teacher, 38-year-old Frank Ramos Arias of Bayard, New Mexico, was charged with “Voyeurism of a Child under 18 years of age,” a fourth-degree felony.

Arias denied the allegations under interrogation, but investigators obtained a search warrant for his cell phone.

Investigators said an examination of the phone revealed videos that corroborated the victims’ statements.

Arias was booked into the Grant County Detention Center. School District Superintendent Audie Brown told the Associated Press Arias has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
