R&B sensation Khalid hands out 500 gifts at El Paso’s Crockett Elementary School

Grammy-nominated singer Khalid returned to El Paso Monday to hand-deliver more than 500 gifts at Crockett Elementary.

“It means the world to me to come back to El Paso and give out gifts to the kids,” Khalid said, “For me so to see the smiles on all the kids’ faces – I will carry with me wherever I go.”

District officials said the students were told to gather in an auditorium for a special guest.

When the principal asked them to guess who it was, the students replied, “Santa!”

EPISD said the students’ chants quickly turned to shrieks of excitement when the curtains of the stage were drawn to reveal the American Teen himself.

“You can see the humility in him and the love and wanting to give back to the community,” said the school’s principal, Elco Ramos said.

EPISD said the event was organized by Linda Wolfe, Khalid’s mother. Wolfe was reportedly looking for the “perfect school” and said Crockett’s student body is “what her son liked the best.”
