Third annual Strides against Stroke Walk

May is stroke awareness month and today the Hospitals of Providence held its third annual Strides Against Stroke Walk.

The goal is to educate the community on stroke prevention. Close to 800,000 people suffer a stroke each year and at least 80 percent of strokes are preventable. The event offered free health screening to the community where they are able to assess a person’s risk for a stroke.

For sign and symptoms, the Hospitals of Providence say to remember fast-f- facial drooping, a- arm weakness, s- speech difficulty and t-to call 911.
