EPPD: Woman shot in Northeast dies, husband charged

Police say the woman shot in Northeast El Paso Sunday afternoon has died and the victim’s husband has been charged.

Police said Jamar Lennell Birch, 35, shot and killed his wife, 34-year-old Jennifer Birch.

The shooting happened shortly after 4 p.m. on the 10300 block of Mackinaw on July 15, 2018.

Police said Jamarr Birch called police to report a shooting inside the residence. When officers arrived, the man was taken into custody.

An investigation revealed Birch and his wife had been involved in a verbal argument. During the argument, Jamarr Birch retrieved a firearm from his vehicle, entered the residence and allegedly shot the woman.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital, where she died.

Jamarr Birch was charged with Murder and booked into the El Paso County Jail on a Bond of $1,000,000.
