Document: Las Cruces mother and son, 9, test positive for meth

Police in Las Cruces charged a mother with Abuse of a Child after the boy and the woman allegedly tested positive for methamphetamine.

Soqui Robledo-Lopez, 29, was arrested on January 15, 2019.

The investigation began on December 18, 2018 when Lopez got into a fight with her mother at a residence on the 400 block of E. Bowman.

When investigators arrived at the home, Lopez’s mother told them Lopez kicked her 9-year-old grandson in the chest after the boy tried hugging Lopez.

When the boy was interviewed, he allegedly told investigators his mother acted “weird” after “smoking drugs.” The boy allegedly said he witnessed his mother taking “tiny pills” and smoking drugs out of tin foil.

At the end of the interview, Lopez declined a voluntary drug test for the boy and herself, court documents state. On December 19, 2018, investigators obtained two search warrants for the drug tests. An affadavit states both Lopez and her son both tested positive for methamphetamine.

Lopez was jailed on a $2,000 bond.
