Man wanted on child sex assault charges arrested in Horizon City

Deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 14.

Leon Kent Vaquera, 28, is charged with two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and Continous Sexual Abuse of a Child Victim under 14.

Officials said the charges stem from an investigation at a home on the 14000 block of Lago Grande Drive.

A criminal complaint obtained by ABC-7 states the accuser was eight years old when Kent allegedly raped her. The accuser came forward to report the rape when she was nine years old, the document states.

The alleged rape happened sometime between April 2017 and December 2017, the court document states.

Deputies assigned to the Criminal Warrants and Fugitive Apprehension Section arrested Kent following a traffic stop in Horizon City on January 16, 2019.

Deputies booked Kent into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
