ABC-7 at 4: Honor Flight organizers on the veterans’ tour of D.C. war memorials

A group of 30 borderland veterans is in the nation’s capitol thanks to the group Honor Flight.

Vets from El Paso and Southern New Mexico are flown to Washington, D.C. from El Paso International Airport to visit war memorials built in their honor — and in honor of the sacrifice paid by those who didn’t survive.

Carla Heidtman with Honor Flight organization talked with Stephanie Valle on ABC-7 at 4 on Wednesday, May 1, about how the trip is coordinated, how the attendees are selected, which monuments are visited and how its paid for.
