Suspect in custody after shots fired near elementary school in Far East El Paso

Police officers and SWAT responded to a Far East El Paso neighborhood to investigate a shots fired call Monday afternoon.

The call was received by police shortly before 3 p.m. At about 3:30 pm, police said a suspect was in custody.

The scene unfolded on the 3300 block of Tierra Yvette, near Rich Beem and Edgemere.

Video submitted by an ABC-7 viewer shows dozens of armed police officers swarming the home where the suspect appeared to be barricaded.

Police at the scene also handcuffed a woman and placed her hands inside bags. This is usually done when police want to preserve residue or evidence of a weapon being discharged.
