Small business expanding to far east El Paso

Several successful small businesses that started on the west side of El Paso are expanding and opening new stores to the east around loop 375.

“everybody works over there everybody lives over here, so we get to see your kids now so it’s really cool it’s been a blessing.”

Says Joshua Safford who is a manager at Smallcakes Cupcakery. They just opened a new location this weekend on Montwood Drive.

Families that visited the shop tell us “with all the traffic here it’s nice to have local businesses that are around here”.

With more homes being built in that area, City officials expect this trend to continue.

Jessica Herrera is the director of Economic and International Development department for El Paso, she says “It’s the fastest growing in terms of our young families and the continued growth of loop 375 and the development there is very very significant.”

National small business week runs through May 11th and the city is encouraging residents to explore some of the shops near them to snag some great deals.
