Pair of I-10 east crashes near downtown El Paso caused traffic backups

A pair of crashes along Interstate 10 eastbound near downtown El Paso caused significant traffic backups for Monday afternoon commuters.

Police and the Texas Dept. of Transportation said one collision occurred on I-10 east at Reynolds, while another accident involving multiple vehicles happened about the same time on I-10 east at Copia.

Both accidents around 3:30 p.m. triggered lane closures; it took police about an hour to clear both wrecks and get traffic flowing again at normal conditions.
