US 180 reopens north of Silver City

SILVER CITY, New Mexico -- US 180 is reopened after a section of road collapsed due to extreme runoff.

The collapse happened Tuesday. The section of closed road stretched from milepost 100 to 92.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation says speed limits will be reduced. NMDOT will monitor the road over the weekend and make needed repairs until the paving is complete.

NMDOT says paving is scheduled for Monday.
