Benito Juarez installed at Chamizal National Memorial
EL PASO, Texas -- A bronze statue of Mexican President Benito Juarez arrived at Chamizal National Memorial.
The monument is the fourth installment of the Twelve Travelers Memorial of the southwest series, a tribute to a dozen historical figures who traveled through the borderland.
The statue serves as a corresponding gesture to Mexico's 1964 installment of Abraham Lincoln in Ciudad Juárez. Juarez and Lincoln statues now respectfully face one another from across the Rio Grande.
The unveiling of the statue takes place Sunday, September 25, at Chamizal National Memorial.
