Suspect involved in Stanton Bridge shooting identified

EL PASO, Texas -- The suspect involved in Friday's Stanton Bridge shooting has been identified.

32-year-old Maxwell Billingslea assaulted his mother and pushed her out of the vehicle while the two were waiting in line to cross into Mexico.

Billingslea's mother asked security for assistance. A security guard approached Billingslea, who began to drive back and forth, hitting other vehicles.

Billingslea then drove his vehicle at the security guard, who fired at the vehicle. Billingslea sustained non life-threatening injuries.

Billingslea was released from University Medical Center after treatment and placed under arrest for assault, family violence, and aggravated assault with a combined bond of $80,000. He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
