Migrants cope with deadly migrant shooting; accused brothers have bond reduced

EL PASO, Texas -- A Texas judge reduced the cash bond for the two brothers accused in a fatal migrant shooting last month.

Brothers Michael and Mark Sheppard allegedly shot at a group of thirteen migrants in Hudspeth County. One of those migrants died.

The Sheppards were arrested. Their bond was initially set at $250,000 each. Their bonds have since been reduced.

Michael Sheppard, the alleged shooter, now faces a $75,000 cash or surety bond and a $175,000 signature bond

Mark Sheppard faces a $50,000 cash or surety bond and a $200,000 signature bond.

Meanwhile, the twelve migrants in the group that was attacked were held by ICE; three were released Monday.

"It was extremely shocking for them. Extremely traumatic just a really difficult experience for them all," said Zoe Bowman a Supervising Attorney at Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center, who represented eight of the migrants.
