County honors El Paso women in law enforcement

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso women in law enforcement were recognized by County Commissioners Monday. This comes during March, which is Women's History Month.

County Commissioner Iliana Holguin presented a resolution to honor female law enforcement officers.

"Women in policing breaking barriers and blazing a path has confirmed that women officers are less likely to use excessive force," said Holguin.

Other lead female law enforcement officers also spoke to encourage more women to join and make a career in the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.

If you or someone you know is a woman in law enforcement, a luncheon to honor female officers will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn UTEP from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. this Wednesday by the Santana-Gaskins Foundation.
