Cat falls 20 feet from tree after being stuck there for two days, runs away seemingly unharmed

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- A cat fell 20 feet from a tree after being stuck in it for two days - and survived.

The man whose backyard the tree was in tried to help the cat down by climbing up with a ladder, but just before the man grabbed the cat, it jumped out of the tree. Witnesses say the cat appeared uninjured, and it ran off.

El Paso Animal Services says the close call serves as a reminder to El Pasoans to call professionals when they see an animal in danger, and don't try to save it yourself.

"You could get hurt, you could scare that animal further up to where it is more difficult to rescue the animal," said Michelle Anderson of El Paso Animal Services. "You could get bit, you could get scratched, you could fall yourself."

Officials advise you call 311 if you find an animal in danger. Anderson says it may seem that they're not responding, but sometimes coordination between several agencies is needed to safely rescue the animal.
