NMSU researcher testing the efficacy of essential oils in repelling mosquitos

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico(KVIA) - A New Mexico State University researcher is looking into developing a combination of essential oils that work longer to repel mosquitoes. Her experiments so far have uncovered at least two essential oils, that when mixed with organic lotion, outperform the industry-leading Citronella.

Graduate student Hailey Luker’s research demonstrating the effectiveness of various essential oils as mosquito repellents were published recently in the journal “Nature.”
