Migrants arrive at Bassett Middle School for shelter

KVIA

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Dozens of Migrants arrived on buses Thursday night at Bassett Middle School.

The vacant school can shelter 500 to 1,500 migrants. The middle school only shelters migrants who Border Patrol has processed. The school is divided into two groups, families and single male adults.

Some processed migrants needing shelter can be held at the school for up to 72 hours.

There are processing rooms where city employees and case workers can help them book transportation, while the Red Cross will be assisting with meals for everyone.

The city says they are prepared to open Morehead Middle School if Bassett Middle school reaches capacity.
